Hello friends,
Can we talk about April for a second?
Because honestly—it was a lot. It moved fast and somehow also felt heavy and long at the same time. You know that feeling where a month just... sits on you?
But what was most notable to me is that I kept hearing the same thing from everyone around me—providers, colleagues, friends: Focus on you, focus on supporting your nervous system.
Which, if you've been here since January, you know we've been building toward that the past few months—gently, intentionally. Easing out of winter. Finding rhythm. And by April, I was ready to move. I was lifting heavier. Feeling the energy of spring. Ready to push forward.
And then—well, the universe had other plans.
And I had to make a choice: override it and push through anyway, or listen.
So I listened. I pulled back. I kept regulating when I really wanted to accelerate. And as uncomfortable as that was... it was the right call.
Because here's what April reminded me—and what I hope lands for you too:
Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is slow down long enough to hear what your body is actually asking for.
Not forever. Just for now.
May is coming. The energy is shifting. And we'll meet it—supported, steady and even more ready.
But first—here's what we covered this month, in case you missed anything. 👇
🎙️ IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
This month on the podcast and blog, we went deep on two things that affect almost every midlife woman I work with:
Why under-fueling is one of the biggest hidden stressors on your nervous system and metabolism—and how it shows up in ways you might not recognize. (Hint: it's not always about eating less. Often it's about not eating enough—in really sneaky, socially acceptable and often, I find, subconscious ways.)

🌿 NUTRIENT SPOTLIGHT: Vitamin C
Your skin is about to show more. Let's feed it.
Spring is here, skin is emerging from hibernation and this is exactly the time to make sure you're getting enough vitamin C—not just for immunity, but for everything happening underneath the surface.
Here's what this nutrient is actually doing for your body:
It builds your skin from the inside out. No vitamin C=no collagen. Full stop. Vitamin C is a required co-factor for collagen production—your body literally cannot build or repair it without this nutrient. And a December 2025 study confirmed that vitamin C from food travels through the bloodstream directly into every layer of skin, leading to measurably thicker, healthier skin. People eating just two kiwis a day saw real results in weeks. Not your serum. Your food.
It's your daily immune armor. It's not just a cold-season nutrient. Vitamin C activates and feeds immune cells year-round—think of it less as an emergency supplement and more as something your immune system depends on consistently.
It fights aging while you sleep. As a powerful antioxidant, vitamin C neutralizes free radicals that drive oxidative stress, inflammation and accelerated aging—especially relevant in midlife, when our natural antioxidant defenses need extra backup.
It's a secret weapon for iron absorption. Eating vitamin C alongside iron-rich foods significantly boosts how much iron your body actually absorbs. Think: spinach salad with lemon dressing, lentils with kale, oatmeal topped with strawberries. Small pairing, big payoff.
Where to find it on your plate: Bell peppers (red wins!), kiwi, strawberries, citrus, broccoli, tomatoes, kale, papaya
Pro tip: Vitamin C is heat-sensitive—raw or lightly cooked keeps more intact.
Your new skincare routine starts in the kitchen. 🍓
🍽️ SPRING RECIPE: Strawberry Chicken Salad with Lemon Poppy Seed Dressing
High protein • Vitamin C-rich • Blood sugar supportive
This one is bright, satisfying and genuinely feels like spring in a bowl. It pulls double duty—loads of Vitamin C from the strawberries and greens, plus protein to keep blood sugar steady and your nervous system regulated.
Ingredients (serves 2):
- 2 leftover grilled chicken breasts or 2 cups rotisserie chicken, sliced
- 3 cups arugula or mixed greens
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- ¼ cup toasted walnuts or slivered almonds
- ¼ avocado, sliced
- 2 tbsp crumbled goat cheese or feta (optional)
Lemon Poppy Seed Dressing:
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp honey or maple syrup
- 1 tsp poppy seeds
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Whisk together and drizzle
Why it works: Strawberries and greens deliver a solid hit of vitamin C, supporting collagen production and immune function. Chicken provides the protein your nervous system needs to stay steady. Healthy fat from walnuts and avocado keeps you satisfied and helps absorb fat-soluble nutrients. This is a supporting-your-body meal, not a punishing-yourself meal. Plus, it's a tasty way to use up those spring strawberries in your fridge!
👀 COMING IN MAY...
May is going to be all about Structure + Support—and I'm genuinely excited about this one... yes, the month and the topic!
We're talking:
- The power of consistent eating and why your body thrives on rhythm
- Building a Mediterranean plate for metabolic and nervous system health
- Why you keep starting over (and what's actually going on)
- Why poor sleep is quietly sabotaging your metabolism
- And more!
It's going to be a big month. Stay close.
Until next time... Take up space. Nourish your body. And regulate first.
And as always, stay unhinged in the best way.💛
